Stud Practices

The aim of the stud is to create a breeding program which will preserve and improve the traits of our uniquely indigenous horse that has become a legendary part of South Africa’s National Heritage.

At Fijnbosch Nooitgedacht Stud the aim is to maintain the special qualities of these rare and special animals by breeding them in as natural surroundings as possible. Unlike many horse studs the horses run in herds in large paddocks.

Each horse is handled (loved!) everyday. Young horses are selected for training using a combination of natural horsemanship methods and classical riding.  End product being a loyal and trusting companion and partner.
